5 Ways to Use Props in Your Brand Photo Shoot
One of my favorite things about Brand Photo shoots is that every one is completely different. I get to work with entrepreneurs and business owners and learn about their unique selling propositions, their personalities and what audience they are hoping to reach.
One way you can further personalize your brand photo shoot is through the use of props. They can be helpful in communicating your message and reinforcing your branding. Today I’m going to share with you 5 ways you can use props in your brand photo shoot.
Lifestyle Product Photos
If you sell a product, it’s obviously important to have photos of those products so your customers know what they are purchasing. Another way to showcase those products, though, is by using them in props during your brand photo shoot. Essentially these are lifestyle images showing your products in use. You can use these images to demonstrate how your products are used and to reinforce the lifestyle that your products are meant to fit into.
Promotional Products
If you have promotional products with your logo on them, use them in your photo shoot. It reinforces the correlation between your logo, your brand colors and your face! This can be something like a water bottle, mug, polo shirt or even a pop socket on your phone.
Identify a Routine you Share with Your Audience
Do you have a routine that you already have in common with your audience? Are there physical items that represent that routine that you could use in your photos? For example, a health coach might use a mug and tea bags because she and her audience all enjoy a calming tea before bed. Or a photographer might use a scrapbook because her clients share her love of preserving memories.
Represent other Brands/Style your Audience Connects With
Examine who your target audience is and what other brands or products you believe they might purchase. If you are selling a high-end product, then you should consider wearing clothes and using other props that are from other high-end brands. On the flip side, if you’re let’s say a web developer and you’re looking to work with more casual brands, then showing yourself in t-shirts might help reinforce that.
Use Your Location As a Prop
The location of your brand photo shoot should be intentionally selected. Think about the location as a prop. Consider how you can leverage the style of that location or the colors in that space to reinforce your branding and communicate more to your target audience about your business and services. A consultant who wants to show the wide range of business types she works with might want to do some photos in a high-end board room and others in a more casual nonprofit or small business setting.
