Holiday Family Photo Session at Mead Gardens in Winter Park, Florida

I had the chance to work with Jeannine and her family for their holiday photos this year. Her family has only been in Florida for a few years so I also got to introduce them to Mead Gardens. Mead Gardens is a beautiful park in Winter Park, Florida. I love the combination of Spanish moss and palms! It definitely makes for a look that’s pretty unique to Florida.

We decided we should document the year that is 2020 and take a picture with everyone’s face masks on. Luckily though, Mead Gardens has plenty of space for us to spread out and social distance so we did the rest of the session without masks on.

For any of my family portrait sessions, I always strive to create a combination of posed and candid images. Candid interactions often give everyone’s personalities a chance to stand out.

I try to make time in each family session to get individual photos of the kids and a group picture of just the kids. If Jeannine wanted to make a wall collage in their house, she would have a few different options for family or a group kids’ shot in the center of the collage and then the four kids’ photos could be arranged around that group shot.

Obviously we can’t forget about mom and dad!

This was my favorite photo of the whole session so I’m hoping this is the one that ended up on their holiday card!
